Title: Planned Rheinubung - Breakout of the German Surface Fleet

Host: Byron Bond

Rules: Seekrieg 5

Description:

World War 2 Naval action in the North Atlantic.

In May 1941, Kriegsmarine leaders decided on a breakout of the surface units to disrupt allied convoys in the Atlantic. Historically, this resulted in the famous engagement between Bismarck  and her consort Prinz Eugen against Hood and Prince of Wales. However, the original Rheinubung plan envisioned additional surface units on the German side, and there were many more Royal Navy warships in the area. This scenario will explore one of the original planned sorties - and a possible British response.

SK5 is a very detailed set of naval rules, where every shell that hits does specific damage. While no prior experience with SK5 is necessary to play and enjoy the game (it is commonly played at conventions), it uses lots of charts and dice rolls to generate results. Everyone is welcome to play whether you are a landlubber or a trusty shellback, but I do ask that if you play, please be willing to focus on the game and be comfortable with chart-driven mechanics so that all players can enjoy the event.  Scale: 1/2400 micronauts.  Players: 6-8
